Matthew Matt James was conceived in North Carolina, on the 5th December 1991. He is the child of Manny James and Patty James of mixed race. The father of Manny James is Nigerian while his mother is caucasian American. He graduated from Sanderson High School. In 2015, James earned the Bachelor of Economics degree from Wake Forest University. James' fame kick-started when he filmed his debut on the reality TV star on The Bachelorette. James was selected in the year 2020 as the new bachelor on The Bachelor season 25, making him the debut African American male star. The series premiered later that year. James had the perfect look for the part. He's tall and handsome, with an innate ability to laugh. Rachael Krakconnell, whom he had chosen as his girlfriend throughout the season. The following year, in 2021, he was joined with the famous dancer Arnold in season 30 of Dancing with the Stars. James and Arnold were ranked 12th.
